Detroit Pistons: Ranking available free agent wing defenders in 2023
Detroit Pistons: Ranking available free agent wing defenders in 2023
#3: Harrison Barnes
Barnes is one of those quietly solid players who doesn’t do any one thing spectacularly well, but is very good at pretty much everything.
While not an elite wing defender, Barnes can definitely hold his own, and has the added benefit of being able to defend both forward positions.
Barnes is also a good 3-point shooter, which helps his case.
He’s not the lockdown defender they probably need, but Barnes is very good and would help improve the Detroit Pistons on both ends, just ask the Sacramento Kings, who leaned on Barnes in all 82 regular-season games. Barnes has a solid history of staying healthy, playing 72 games or more nine times in his career, another thing that would benefit the Pistons, who were swamped with injuries this season.
#2: Jerami Grant
Of the guys on this list, Jerami Grant is probably the best overall player and guy who would best fit on the Detroit Pistons.
Grant has excellent length that allows him to defend 2-4, the type of defensive versatility that the Pistons currently lack at forward.
He’s not a true wing, and would likely play more time at the four, but Grant is a good weak side shot blocker who would help the Pistons’ overall defensive level no matter where he plays.
A reunion between Jerami Grant and the Detroit Pistons makes a lot of sense.
