Pistons 2023 offseason primer: Outgoing free agents

The Detroit Pistons will hopefully have some open roster spots after letting some free agents walk.

  • Hamidou Diallo
  • Cory Joseph
  • Rodney McGruder

Detroit could use upgrades at all three of these spots, so there is really no reason to bring any of these players back, though Hamidou Diallo did have a nice season off the bench. CoJo could be back if the Pistons get to end of the offseason and have an open roster spot they need to fill with a veteran, but they should probably look to find better players for these roster spots.

RJ Hampton’s contract for next season is not guaranteed and he didn’t show enough to make the Pistons want to bring him back.

Alec Burks and Isaiah Livers both have team options that Detroit is expected to exercise for next season, though in Burks’ case, he could definitely be trade bait at some point, as he is on a team-friend deal and can still knock down shots.

Expect Burks and Livers to be back and say goodbye to the other four.
