Detroit Pistons’ all-time starting lineup by win shares

Total Win Shares Starting Lineup

If we were to make a starting lineup out of the Detroit Pistons’ all-time leaders in total win shares you’d have a damn good team.

  • Bill Laimbeer: 98.4
  • Bob Lanier: 91.6
  • Joe Dumars: 86.2
  • Isiah Thomas: 80.7
  • Chauncey Billups: 73.6

If you wanted to take it even further, here is your bench:

  • Ben Wallace: 65.9
  • Andre Drummond: 60.4
  • Grant Hill: 60
  • Tayshaun Prince: 57.6
  • Larry Foust: 57.5

Win shares are an interesting measure, as they not only reward guys who put up big numbers, but longevity as well, as you had to be around for awhile to make any team’s all-time list.

But I don’t think most fans would guess that Bill Laimbeer was the franchise’s all-time leader in win shares, a testament that he was more than just a bruiser, and was a force on both sides of the ball over a long career.
