Constructing a Pistons “dream team” if they nailed every Draft
Every team in the NBA has a list of misses in the NBA Draft and that definitely includes the Detroit Pistons.
Failing to hit in the NBA Draft is the primary reason the Pistons have been bad for so long, something Troy Weaver has hopefully remedied with recent picks Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren.
The ability to consistently find impact talent in the draft is one of the things that separates the good teams from the bad, ask the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets, who routinely find good (even MVP) players in the draft even though they rarely have top picks.
The NBA Draft is a hell of a lot easier in hindsight, so I am not pretending to be smarter than an NBA GM here, but it is fun to look back and see what might have been had the Pistons nailed every draft from 2010-2019.

2010: Paul George over Greg Monroe with the 7th pick
This choice was very representative of one of the huge errors the Detroit Pistons made in team building during this era.
While the rest of the league was starting to shift to two-way forwards and 3-point shots, Detroit decided to double down on big men, something we are all hoping Troy Weaver isn’t trying to do again.
Greg Monroe had a few good seasons in Detroit, but ultimately the league passed him by as it did all post players who didn’t evolve. The Pistons have been looking for their two-way wing ever since and could have had a great one in Paul George.
