How the Bradley Beal drama could affect the Pistons

Kyle Kuzma

Kyle Kuzma is in a similar situation to Porzingis, as he has a player option for next season, though unlike Porzingis, Kuzma will certainly decline his in search of a bigger payday.

He is only due $13 million next season and will get more than that in free agency, so Kuzma was going to opt out no matter what happens with Beal.

But if Beal is gone, and it looks like the team is heading in a different direction, Kuzma will be far less likely to want to be back to play for a team that might be rolling out the tanks next season.

Detroit was the worst team in the NBA this past season, so it’s not like they are on the cusp of a title, but they are on the upswing with coach Monty Williams on board and Kuzma is from Flint, so may want a homecoming.

He would be a fit on the Pistons, as they need size and athleticism at the forward position. Kuzma also seems to just be entering his prime, as he is fresh off the best season of his career.

If Beal is traded, it makes it more likely that Kuzma will also flee in free agency, and he’s a guy that might interest the Pistons.

Detroit won’t be directly involved with the Beal trade, but it would have a ripple effect that could impact several teams.
