Pistons: Biggest sleeper and other predictions about the 2023 NBA Draft
Detroit Pistons: predictions about the 2023 NBA Draft class
The Andrew Wiggins award…
The Wiggins award is one I give to the player who has huge amounts of hype going into his rookie season, doesn’t quite live up to it, is declared a bust by impatient teenagers on Twitter who made him into an All-Star on NBA2K, and then eventually becomes a very good player.
My choice for the award this season is Brandon Miller, who went 2nd to the Hornets. Given that he was taken before Scoot Henderson, this pick is going to be heavily scrutinized all season, and if Miller is not immediately good for the Hornets, he’ll be declared a bust and a terrible pick.
Charlotte is not a good team and Miller could be thrust into a big role right away. If he starts the season cold while Scoot Henderson or Amen Thompson are on the highlight reels every night, fans will be all over the Hornets for drafting him.
But Miller has every skill you’d want from a modern wing and should eventually be a very good two-way player just like Wiggins, who is now one of the best two-way wings in the league. Fans and media have little patience for rookies these days, so Miller looks like the best choice to be declared a “bust” only to recoup, have an overall strong rookie season and eventually go onto be a very good player.
Will either of the Detroit Pistons be surprising for one reason or another? Will the Pistons continue their streak of All-Rookie players?
