Pistons vs. Pacers prediction and odds for NBA Summer League (Trust Detroit)
By Peter Dewey
The Detroit Pistons have one of the better young teams in Summer League, but they have sat Jalen Duren and James Wiseman down after they played well to open their time in Las Vegas.
That allowed No. 5 overall pick Ausar Thompson to thrive, showcasing his elite two-way ability on the wing for Detroit.
Detroit’s only loss this summer came to the Houston Rockets, who are undefeated and currently playing in the semifinal on Sunday with a chance to advance to the Summer League championship game.
The Indiana Pacers are 2-2 so far this summer, but they’ve struggled since taking Bennedict Mathurin out of the lineup. The team lost by 21 points in its last game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Let’s dive into the odds and my best bet for this Summer League consolation game:
Pistons vs. Pacers odds, spread and total
Spread
- Pistons -2 (-110)
- Pacers +2 (-110)
Moneyline
- Pistons: -135
- Pacers: +115
Total

Pistons vs. Pacers prediction and pick
I love the Pistons in this game, as we know they’ll have some of their top talent between Thompson and Marcus Sasser both playing in this game.
The Pacers, even with first-round pick picks Jarace Walker and Ben Sheppard playing, struggled mightily in their last Summer League game.
Losing an All-Rookie First Team performer like Mathurin is not easy to replace, and I don’t expect the Pacers to be able to keep this game close.
The Pistons beat the Spurs by six in their last game and they’ve won three of their four games by at least four points.
I’ll trust Thompson, who has been great this summer, to keep the Pistons in the win column on Sunday.
Pick: Pistons -2 (-110)
