Detroit Pistons: Greatest player at each height

6’9″

Ben Wallace

Blake Griffin wasn’t here long, but he did have the best, or most complete season of his career with the club. That deserves mention. Tayshaun Prince won a championship with the Pistons, got the most out of his talent as a 23rd overall pick an in doing so, it kinda feels like he played 20 seasons with the franchise (it was actually 12). Like Blake, Tayshaun deserves a mention.

While Big Ben Wallace was a very, very suspect 6’9”, that’s what we’ll go with. The man played nine seasons wearing the red, white and blue and defined one of the greatest eras in Pistons history. His imposing presence seemed to win us games before they even began. Statistics could never do him justice, but there are a couple of numbers that do. Four – as in the number of times he won the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year Award. Two – as in the number of times he led the NBA in rebounds. One – as in the number of times he hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy above his head. And infinity – as in the number of Detroiters who know what it means to “fear the fro.” Debo is not just the best Piston to be 6’9” tall. He’s one of the best Pistons of all-time, period.
