3 things the Pistons need to do to get back in the playoffs
2. Keep Bojan Bogdanovic
It’s no secret that there are several contending teams around the NBA that would love to add Bojan Bogdanovic.
The 34-year-old can still shoot the lights out, and even though his defense has seen better days, there are a lot of teams that could use his shooting. The Pistons have been mentioned in possible trades with everyone from the Mavericks to the Lakers, but so far nothing has materialized.
The reason is because the Pistons are trying to milk at least a first-round pick out of someone and so far no teams want to bite. Detroit desperately needs another first round pick if they ever want to trade for a star, as they only have one they can trade and it’s not until 2029 due to the pick they owe the Knicks.
If Bogdanovic is moved as part of a larger plan that eventually lands a star player, that’s one thing, but if he’s moved just to add another pick in the 20’s, then it would be a step back for Detroit, as Bogdanovic is their most reliable scorer.
He’ll make things easier on the two young guards, and even if he were to eventually come off the bench, his floor spacing and shooting will always be valuable.
If the Detroit Pistons really want to make the playoffs next season, they need a few veterans who can actually play and Bogdanovic is one of the only ones they have. If the right deal is there, sure, trade away, but don’t do it just to do it, as Bogdanovic has more value to the Pistons than he currently has on the trade market.
