3: The Pistons need to add forward depth

I like the idea of the Detroit Pistons starting Jalen Duren at center with one of James Wiseman and/or Marvin Bagley III as the backup.

But power forward is another story. Currently Detroit is likely to start the newly extended Isaiah Stewart at the power forward spot and use one of the other bigs as the backup. There are already big questions about whether Stewart can shoot and defend the perimeter well enough to be a four next to Duren, but when you get into the second unit, those questions get even bigger, as the idea of playing Wiseman and MBIII together actually makes me nauseous.

Detroit could use another long forward who can defend and shoot 3-point shots. This player doesn’t have to be a starter, but a 6-foot-9’ish 3-and-D guy is just what the doctor ordered.

Right now Monty Williams has a depth chart that has too many guards and centers, so the Detroit Pistons have another move or two to make if they want to have a complementary roster that might have a chance to make some noise in the Eastern Conference.
