The Detroit Pistons clearly wanted some more talent and competition at the point guard position next season, so they made a trade for Monte Morris, a reliable veteran who takes care of the ball and can shoot from long range.

They also drafted Marcus Sasser, who is more of a scoring guard than a facilitator, but his presence added another body to an already crowded room.

That’s why it wasn’t surprising to see Killian Hayes come up in recent trade rumors that suggest the Pistons are intent on trading the 22-year-old.

The return for trading Killian Hayes isn’t likely to be much, as the French point guard was the worst shooter in the NBA last season, though he has flashed solid defense and playmaking in his young career.

We’ve already talked about a couple of teams that could trade for Killian Hayes, but there are others around the league that need a point guard and have something to trade that the Detroit Pistons might want.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Current point guards: Mike Conley, Jordan McLaughlin, Shake Milton

Trade pieces: Troy Brown Jr., Kyle Anderson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker

The T’Wolves have only 35-year-old Mike Conley and 5-foot-11 Jordan McLaughlin behind him, so it’s safe to say they could use more depth at point guard. Given the fact that Minnesota already has elite scorers, adding a pass-first point guard who can defend makes sense. If the Detroit Pistons could throw in some second-round picks to get either Troy Brown Jr. or Kyle Anderson from Minnesota, it would help balance the roster and give them more depth at forward, which Detroit needs.
