Detroit Pistons: 3 teams that need a point guard and what they could trade

Phoenix Suns

Current point guards: Bradley Beal, Saben Lee, Jordan Goodwin

Trade pieces: Keita Bates-Diop

The Suns don’t really have a starting level point guard on the team, though Beal, Durant and Booker can all handle the ball and make plays. It does seem like a team that needs a facilitator, as they have three of the biggest ball hogs (er, um, elite scorers) in the league, so Killian Hayes is potentially a nice fit in Phoenix.

The problem is that the Suns have no cap space nor draft assets, so they really don’t have much to trade and it would be very difficult to match salaries. Bates-Diop would be a nice addition to the Detroit Pistons, but trading Killian for him would be tricky, as the Suns would probably want more for a 3-and-D wing and Bates-Diop has only a player option for next season left on a minimum deal while Hayes is set to make $7.4 million.

The Pistons would almost certainly have to take on another contact or get a third team involved to make any type of deal with the Suns, but they are a team with a need a point guard. Hayes would be happy to see his old buddy Saben Lee, a player he at least knows he can beat out for minutes.
