Thompson Twins in the 2019 Draft

In 2019, Zion Williamson and Ja Morant set themselves apart, but comparisons could be made between the Thompson twins and RJ Barrett, all three six-and-a-half foot wings with length and skills.

Again, Ausar and Amen would’ve been in the running for the second or third picks.

A lengthy, athletic wing is a valuable commodity in any draft. Victor Wembanyama skewed this year’s draft, and Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller are the types of picks with enough upside that teams gamble on their potential. Most years, either Miller or Henderson would’ve been a first overall pick.

Both of the Thompson twins would’ve been drafted at or near the top of any draft, and depending who else was in the draft, they might’ve gone much higher. In Ausar Thompson, the Detroit Pistons got a steal drafting fifth.
