The Detroit Pistons will head into training camp with a roster that should have many interesting battles for minutes.

With superfluous players at guard and center, Detroit will have options, but that could also come with difficult decisions that will lead to some unhappy players and possibly guys being shipped out in trades.

Detroit Pistons: Low stakes vs. high stakes training camp battles

Some of this competition will be fairly low stakes, as you’ll have guys like Killian Hayes and Marcus Sasser fighting for backup guard minutes, likely behind veteran Monte Morris.

There aren’t minutes for all of them, and Monty Williams is likely to prioritize the veteran Morris, as he did with Ricky Rubio in Phoenix.

But even that is not set in stone, as Morris has been a starter the past two seasons and isn’t going to give up that role without a fight.

The more important competition will come at backup center, where two similar players are not only going to be fighting for minutes, but likely to stay on the team.

Both guys have a case and both will get a chance to prove themselves, but does anyone have an edge going into next season?
