Detroit Pistons trade for Pascal Siakam in aggressive proposal

Pascal Siakam is a name that has come up in regards to the Detroit Pistons in the past, and to me, he’s the blockbuster trade that doesn’t make a lot of sense (more on that in a minute).

But when you look at this lopsided proposal, it starts to make much more sense, as the Pistons wouldn’t be giving up much in the way of assets.

This comes fromZach Buckley of Bleacher Report who has had a recent propensity for lopsided trades involving the Pistons, which I appreciate.

On paper this looks like a steal for the Pistons, as all three of the players they are giving up could be outside of the rotation. MBIII and Killian Hayes are still waiting to fulfill their potential and Joe Harris is well past his prime. Both Hayes and Harris are on expiring deals and Bagley is on a deal the Pistons would love to get off their books.

They would be giving up two first-round picks, but with all of the young players they have, do they really need them?

Siakam was an All-Star last season and still has plenty of good years left, so why in the world would Toronto trade him for this lackluster package?

There is only one reason.
