Popular Detroit Pistons podcast calls it quits…for now

The Detroit Pistons have a strong community of fans and content creators who probably spend too many of their waking hours talking about the minutiae of a team that hasn’t won a playoff game in 15 years.

Pistons Twitter is an exuberant group (for better or worse) that I’ve enjoyed interacting with (mostly) since I started this gig over four years ago. I am often surprised at how supportive and calm conversations can be, especially on the wilds of the Internet where interactions are usually less than cordial.

And there is no shortage of content to ingest, especially considering we are talking about a team that has been one of the worst in the league for what seems like forever.

But one popular Detroit Pistons podcast will be shutting down operations for now as they plan for a new future.

Popular Detroit Pistons podcast calls it quits

Recently, James Edwards III of The Athletic, who is the Cardigan in this duo, announced that the Bun and Cardigan Show would be calling it quits, at least in its current format.

If you are reading this then you are probably familiar with their work, as the podcast features local beat writer James Edwards III and former PistonPowered writer Nick Henkel, who has grown a large following on YouTube and other platforms.

Edwards III cited the changing format at The Athletic (they are moving away from local podcasts to national ones) and some creative differences as the main reason for the split, though did hint that he will have a new project in the near future.

I’ve enjoyed both of their work over the years, and it is a shame that one of the better local podcasts will no longer be available, but I wish them both well in the future in whatever endeavors they undertake.
