The dream starting five for the Detroit Pistons five years from now

Shooting guard: Devin Booker

Age in 2028: 31

Devin Booker will be on the downside of his career in five years, but he’ll still only be 31 years old and could be a free agent depending on his next deal.

It seems like Booker and the Pistons have to unite at some point, as they had a chance to draft him but passed him over in the 2015 NBA Draft, a mistake they would love to undo.

The current Suns should be well over by then and Booker is from Grand Rapids and has always talked about how he wanted to play for the Detroit Pistons, the team he thought was going to draft him. He still represents Detroit and can be seen wearing the apparel of local teams.

The Pistons could still have Monty Williams, Booker’s former coach and the guy who helped guide him to superstardom. Detroit will need at least one grizzled veteran in the starting five and Booker is already battle-tested and will be even more in five years’ time.

Of course, this leaves Jaden Ivey out, but the Pistons are not likely be able to keep this entire young core together and Ivey seems like the most likely to be traded at some point, just given his skillset.
