Pistons go big in blockbuster trade proposal with Nuggets

After winning the title last season, the Denver Nuggets have lost some of their depth and could look to recuperate it in a trade with the Detroit Pistons.

This would be a big one for Detroit, as they’d be taking on a massive contract and tying themselves to that roster for the foreseeable future, which is risky but has exciting possibilities.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report (who seems to love putting the Pistons in fake trades) came up with this one, which I think is a good representation of the type of trade Detroit could look to make this season:

In this trade, the Nuggets get more depth, pick up a lottery-protected 1st-round pick and get off the three years of guaranteed money they owe Porter Jr.

Bojan Bogdanovic’s deal is only partially guaranteed past next season and Alec Burks is on an expiring, so this would potentially give Denver a chance to make another title run next season, but then give them a wad of cap space after to pursue a third star to put around Jokic and Murray.

The Pistons get a 25-year-old coming off the best season of his career, a 6-foot-10 forward who shot a slightly better 3-point percentage than Bogdanovic on more attempts per game.

It seems like a no-brainer for Detroit (not so much for Denver) so why would the Pistons have any reservations?
