Pistons double down on defense in trade proposal with Cavaliers
The Detroit Pistons have several veterans who could be traded at some point next season depending on how things go.
The Pistons are obviously trying to turn a corner around their young core flanked with veterans like Bojan Bogdanovic, Alec Burks, Joe Harris and Monte Morris.
The additions of Harris and Morris weren’t mind blowing, but both are useful veterans (especially Morris) who will help shore up weaknesses without taking minutes from the core of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren.
But given the age of their core group and the uncertain future of these veteran players, there is a good chance one or more of them gets traded before next season is over.
Detroit Pistons: Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic
Bojan Bogdanovic’s contract is not fully guaranteed after next season and Alec Burks will enter 2023-24 on an expiring deal.
Given that they are still very productive shooters, teams will undoubtedly be calling at some point, especially if the Pistons start slowly.
Most of the focus has been on Bogdanovic, as he is coming off one of the best seasons of his career and still has plenty left in the tank. His contract is also appealing, as teams could potentially have him for two seasons but have an out after one and no long-term commitment.
But Alec Burks will also get some attention as a proven bench scorer who can get hot and change a game with his shooting.
There is one team out there that could use a bench shooter like Burks and has a young player the Pistons might be interested in acquiring.
