How the Detroit Pistons can cash in on the imminent Damian Lillard trade

The Pistons could be a third or fourth team in the Lillard trade

Depending on where the Trail Blazers end up trading Damian Lillard, they may require several other teams to get involved to grease the wheels.

Teams like Miami don’t have the assets that Portland is looking for, so they will likely be seeking out a third (or more) team that has sizeable contracts or assets to fold into the deal.

The Pistons have as many as six expiring contracts next season, so could be a player in this deal if the right return presents itself.

Bojan Bogdanovic could potentially be a nice sweetener to the deal for Miami, who could then send some of their draft assets or one of their young players to Detroit in return.

Expiring contracts are usually a part of any big trade and the Pistons have some useful veterans on expiring deals.

Would Detroit be interested in someone like Tyler Herro, for example? How about Jerami Grant?

That brings me to the next way the Detroit Pistons could get involved, which is sifting through the fallout.
