3 former players the Detroit Pistons will miss this season

Jerami Grant

The Pistons’ biggest roster weakness is arguably at power forward, especially if you consider Bojan Bogdanovic to be a wing.

Detroit could choose to start Bogdanovic at the four, which may be the best way to utilize their starting lineup, but for now, it appears they will try to put Isaiah Stewart in that role.

I have faith that Beef Stew can get there, but it would be nice to have another long, versatile defender who has proven he can knock down shots, which is a pretty good description of Jerami Grant, which is why the Pistons were rumored to be pursuing him in free agency.

Grant is a known commodity at this point, could fill in at a couple of spots and would be less of a question mark than any of the guys the Pistons have now. He could push Stewart into more of a super-sub role where he plays as both a center and power forward and remove any risk that we will ever see James Wiseman and Marvin Bagley III on the floor at the same time.

I wouldn’t necessarily want Grant at his future salary, but as far as skills go, he’s the type of player the Pistons need and can hopefully find in the near future.
