Who’s up next? 2 extensions Pistons fans should hope aren’t signed

Patrick Williams: Chicago Bulls

The Detroit Pistons are eventually going to need a power forward and that need may have been sped up by the injury to Isaiah Livers.

They are already experimenting with Isaiah Stewart there, and Monty Williams hinted that he might use two bigs, including Jalen Duren at the four, which sent Pistons fans into a panic.

Then there is the fact that Bojan Bogdanovic may not make it past the trade deadline and suddenly the Pistons are extremely thin at forward. With Ausar Thompson already in place, they need a four who can defend and spread the floor, and that type of player will likely be the number one target throughout next season and beyond.

Big trades could put Pistons in the driver's seat. light. Related Story

Patrick Williams of the Bulls is only 22 years old but has already shown he can defend and stretch the floor. He’s a good defender at a couple of spots and raised his 3-point percentage to 41.5 percent last season even though he doubled his attempts.

He was reportedly a favorite of Troy Weaver on draft day and could end up available depending on what happens with the Bulls this season. They have yet to offer him an extension, and if they don’t, he’ll be a restricted free agent with a qualifying offer of around $12 million.

He’s really one of the only young talents they have, and also a potential trade asset, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends up traded in a deal to bring back an older, more proven star to Chicago.

It’s an opportunity for Detroit to get a young player on the same timeline who is not near his potential and has a skill set they need.
