The Detroit Pistons managed to avoid the headlines this offseason after having one of the quietest ones I can remember.

They didn’t add any free agents, and only made low-level trades for Joe Harris and Monte Morris.

It wasn’t splashy, but it also wasn’t controversial, as the Pistons are trying to build around their young draft picks and don’t want to add players who might derail that effort.

But the NBA as a whole hasn’t been short of drama, as superstar Damian Lillard eventually got his wish to get out of Portland and now focus has shifted to James Harden’s saga with the 76ers.

Harden will reportedly return to the 76er’s training camp today but according to Adrian Wojnarowski:

"“James Harden wants a trade. He wants to make the 76ers uncomfortable. So uncomfortable, ultimately, they don’t think they’ll get the best out of him and make a trade.”"

Good times in Philly! This is the exact type of drama the Detroit Pistons want to avoid as they rebuild, so I don’t think we’ll see James Harden in the Motor City anytime soon.

As someone who is not fond of the 76ers, this has been very entertaining to watch and it could get even better, as Philly has no obligation to trade Harden to his preferred destination and could send him somewhere just out of spite.

Here are the funniest locations I could come up with for a James Harden trade. The Detroit Pistons won’t be one of them, but there are scenarios in which they could get involved as a third team using their expiring deals and veteran shooters.

None of these are likely to happen but would be hilarious for a variety of reasons.

New York Knicks

The Knicks have some of the most passionate fans and media in the NBA world, so if things were going well for Harden, he would be beloved, but if they weren’t, he’d be getting booed out of Madison Square Garden.

I’d love to see those first New York headlines if Harden showed up out of shape, but if things went well for him, it would be fun to watch him electrify the MSG crowd with one of his big games.

The Knicks are far more likely to pursue Joel Embiid if Harden gets traded, but for the sake of all the Knicks fans jokes and memes, a Harden trade would be even better.
