The Detroit Pistons are finally trying to compete in the Eastern Conference this season, but there will always be one eye on the future.

As both college and the NBA begin their seasons shortly, all eyes in Detroit will be on the young core of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren. And rightfully so. What is the ceiling for a healthy Cade? Can he and Ivey play alongside each other at an all-star level? How will the new additions to the roster space out the young stars? There are dozens of questions to be answered this season, and the direction of the organization relies heavily on those answers.

Outside of the current roster and questions surrounding them, however, Detroit Pistons fans should still continue to look at the future. They should have their eye on some college and G-League stars as well. I know so much can happen during the season so the, “Can’t we just wait and watch the season before looking ahead already” argument is valid.
