Alec Burks’ trade value may be higher

Given that he is on an expiring deal and has proven himself to be a reliable shooter, teams are definitely going to be calling about the availability of Alec Burks.

But what is he really worth on the trade market?

It doesn’t appear anyone would be willing to give up a first-round pick for Burks, so the best they can probably hope for is some combination of a developmental player, expiring contract or a couple of second-round picks.

So given the current market, Oladipo and two second-rounders may be about what the Pistons can expect to receive if they trade Alec Burks.

But that could change as the season develops and team needs become more apparent and pressing. Burks may be able to draw more at the trade deadline, as contenders will come sniffing around for shooting to make runs at the playoffs.

I’ve always liked Oladipo, as he was one of the best two-way guards in the league in his prime, a guy who could get you over 20 points a game and play lockdown defense on the perimeter. If he were 100 percent healthy he could potentially help the Pistons on defense, but what are the chances of that?

The Pistons could likely get more for Burks, but even if they couldn’t, they could find players who were a better fit.
