Alec Burks trade rumor makes no sense for Pistons
The Pistons should make a trade, just not this one
There is an argument for the Detroit Pistons to make a trade.
They have an unbalanced roster that is heavy on bigs and guards and light on wings and forwards.
So how exactly would this help?
Fischer points out that the emergence of Killian Hayes and Marcus Sasser could make Alec Burks redundant and I agree, but it doesn’t make much sense to trade him for another (worse) guard.
If the Pistons are going to move Burks, they should target a forward, and I have an idea you can read about here.
I’d love to see Detroit use Burks to put together a package for a forward, not another guard, as Oladipo would likely just rot on the bench and be a waste of a roster spot.
Of course, it’s possible the Pistons have more than one move up their sleeve and that this would just be the first part of it, but it’s also possible that the Rockets picked up the phone just to test the waters.
Wither way, It’s difficult to see a Burks for Oladipo trade being viable for Detroit.
