The Detroit Pistons will tip-off the 2023-24 regular season in Miami tomorrow, but it feels like they could use a few more weeks of training camp.

Not only do they have several players already out with injuries, but even if everyone was healthy, they’d have big questions lingering over their roster construction and talent.

Starting the season shorthanded is not ideal, but the injuries might be the least of their concerns, as this team has some major question marks.

Just filling out tomorrow’s lineup is going to be an adventure and I don’t envy Monty Williams’ task as the season begins.

5 Questions hanging over the Detroit Pistons

#1: Is Cade Cunningham “HIM?”

If he’s not, the Detroit Pistons are in big trouble. Detroit needs Cade to stay healthy and turn into a star this season or their rebuild is in trouble, as they’ve been assuming he’s eventually going to be a superstar. Even if he is, we may not know it this season, as there are still big problems with spacing and the supporting cast may not suit his strengths. If Cade is just a good-not-great player, it will change the way they build this team going forward.
