The Detroit Pistons got out to a 2-2 start in the month of October and Jalen Duren was a big part of it.
The 19-year-old center has averaged 15.5 points, 13.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting nearly 70 percent from the floor through the first four games, making himself a finalist for Eastern Conference Player of the Week in the process.
The Pistons return home tonight to take on the Portland Trail Blazers, who have started the season 1-3, with losses to the Clippers, Magic and 76ers and a win over the Toronto Raptors.
Both teams will be shorthanded tonight, but there was one surprise name on the Pistons’ injury report that will draw some early concern.
Is Jalen Duren playing tonight? Injury update for Pistons vs. Trail Blazers
The Detroit Pistons will be without Bojan Bogdanovic, Monte Morris and Isaiah Livers, who are all out for several more weeks. But center Jalen Duren is also listed as questionable for tonight’s game with an ankle sprain.
This would be a big blow to the Pistons, as Duren has been a part of their best lineups on both ends and has been electric in the pick-and-roll with Cade Cunningham. Detroit is likely to be cautious with Duren, but they could use him tonight against a Portland team with both Deandre Ayton and Robert Williams III.
The Trail Blazers will be without Anfernee Simons, who is out for at least six weeks after undergoing surgery on his thumb. Ish Wainright has also been ruled out for Portland.
