Cade Cunningham should be hoping that the Detroit Pistons find a way to make a Jaylen Brown trade work. Moving Jalen Duren as part of a three-team deal that brings Brown to Detroit could be a very intriguing idea for the Pistons. It would finally give Cunningham the type of offensive help that he desperately needs.

Duren is a quality running mate. And the Pistons would have to replace him if they moved him. Plus, the Celtics’ reported high asking price could put the Pistons in a bind when it comes to putting a trade together. However, Brown is good enough for the Pistons to want to make it happen. Cunningham should want it to happen.

He needs the Pistons to go for it.

Cade Cunningham should want a Jaylen Brown trade

This past postseason, everything came crumbling down for the Pistons. They lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round, and it was largely due to their complete lack of offense alongside Cunningham.

If Cunningham didn’t have it going on the offensive end, then the Pistons were left in a tough spot, depending on the likes of Tobias Harris and Caris LeVert to fill in the blanks.

Adding Brown to the mix would ease a lot of the pressure. His mid-range scoring, downhill attacking, and elite shot creation would give the Pistons a massive boost on the offensive end of the court.

Again, Duren is a great player. An All-Star. An All-NBA big man. And worthy of those awards, regardless of how much he struggled in the playoffs. But adding a guy like Brown would be worth it.

After trading Isaiah Stewart, the Pistons would have to do some serious restructuring if they were to pull off a Brown trade. But adding that type of player next to Cunningham would make it worth it.

But again, considering how high the Celtics’ supposed asking price is, the Pistons would probably have to rope in a third team to get a Brown trade over the finish line. Boston would want more on top of Duren.

Another team could give up draft picks for players, or maybe even another quality role player who could help the Celtics. And from there, the Pistons would get Brown, and the Celtics would get Duren and other pieces.

This is the type of deal that could help turn the Pistons into an even more lethal title contender. Bringing Brown on board to play next to Cunningham would be perfect.

And for Cunningham, who just had to deal with a playoff run where he was the team’s lone scorer, Brown is everything he should be asking for right now. He’s the ultimate dream trade target.

Giving up Duren would be brutal. And the Pistons would not only have to find a new center, but also a third team to get a deal over the hump. But it would be worth it.
