Ausar Thompson has been everything the Detroit Pistons could ask for and more when it comes to his impact on the defensive end. Still, his shortcomings on offense have seemingly tempered optimism about the player he could become.
Fortunately, the answer to the Pistons ongoing Thompson problem could be waiting this offseason.
The former top-five pick has become a defensive menace, and he's proven capable of disrupting any matchup, which alone could prove valuable for the Pistons if they have any hope in getting over the hump in the Eastern Conference any time soon.
Still, the biggest concern for Thompson's development has been the struggle to find consistency on the offensive side of the court, and until he does, Detroit will be plagued with a weakness on offense, at least when it comes to the versatile forward.
If Thompson accepts the extended offer from one of the best shooting coaches in the basketball world, Lethal Shooter aka Chris Matthews, Detroit could find the solution to their offensive problem from within.
Lethal Shooter hopes to work with Ausar Thompson
Thompson's issues on offense aren't all bad, and if we're being brutally honest, the main reason for his struggles stems from his inability to be a reliable threat from beyond the arc, shooting 20.4% from three over his first three seasons in the league.
Working with Lethal Shooter, though, could change everything for Thompson, not just by developing his jumper to be more efficient, but by helping him become the dominant two-way player he projected to be.
Amen and Ausar Thompson all I need is a month! Let’s get it!✊🏾

THE ART OF SHOOTING
Lethal Shooter has worked with several NBA players, and he even worked with Boston Celtics' star Jaylen Brown ahead of the postseason.
The fact that NBA players trust the shooting coach to get into the lab with them speaks for itself, and if Thompson takes him up on the offer, it could knock down a wall that allows him to become a major weapon for Detroit.
Ausar Thompson could be elite if he fixes his jumper
Defensively, we all know Thompson is just about as reliable as they come.
Offensively, he's shown the ability to be a capable slasher who can get to the rim at ease with his athleticism, and if he's able to add a consistent jumper to that, Detroit could have a legit star on their hands.
Cade Cunningham clearly needs a viable second option for Detroit to take the next step, and while everyone is searching for external answers, the simplest solution could come within if Thompson puts in the work to turn his weakness into a strength this offseason.
