The Detroit Pistons made a historic Game 6 comeback to defeat the Orlando Magic 93-79, and Cade Cunningham just proved he can be the best player on a title contender. Some doubts were creeping after the top seed fell down 3-1 to Orlando. Cunningham has been outstanding in this series, but losing to the Magic would be a massive blow. The Pistons were down 22 at the half and 24 early in the third. They needed a superstar to lead them back, so Cade stepped up.

Cunningham had 19 points in the fourth, and Orlando scored just 19 in the second half. It looked like Detroit was done at the break. They were way down and scored just 12 in the second quarter. Fans were beyond panicked. It looked like the season was over, but Cade had other ideas.

That is exactly what superstars do. They find a way. Cunningham should be first-team All-NBA this season. The Pistons don’t have enough talent around him, but there is no more questioning Cade. He is a top-five player in the world and ready to lead a title contender for the next 15 years.

Cade Cunningham is an unquestioned superstar after Game 6 comeback

The Pistons needed 45 points from Cunningham to win Game 5. It was a superstar performance with their back against the wall, but the job was far from done. Things got worse with Detroit down 24 in the second half, but Cade answered the bell.

He finished with 32 points, ten rebounds, three assists, four steals, and one block in 41 minutes of action in Game 6. Cunningham made ten of his 23 field goals and was ten of 12 from the free throw line. Cade had to put the team on his back, and he did it again.

The Pistons need to get more talent around him, but it is impossible to question Cunningham now. He scored 77 points in two elimination games. The 24-year-old wasn’t going to let the Pistons lose. He wants no part of being on the wrong side of a top seed being upset by an eighth seed.

Expect Cade to come out firing in Game 7. Fans know the best player usually leads his team to a victory. There are zero questions about who that is here. Cunningham should take over and get the Pistons to the second round in an improbable fashion.

If anyone was doubting Cunningham’s ability to be the best player on a title contender, those are gone after Game 6. It takes a special player to lead his team on a gigantic comeback with their season on the line. Cade did it beautifully, and Pistons fans are already hyped about Game 7 on Sunday.

The Detroit Pistons have a superstar in Cade Cunningham. Now, they have to build a title-contending roster around him. They learned a lot in this series. The biggest lesson was that the Pistons need a second star next to Cade. Consider that Detroit’s top offseason priority, but this run isn’t done. Cade gives them a shot in every game, and the best is yet to come. Pistons fans should be hyped.
