Fans of the Detroit Pistons had plenty to say about the latest rumor that said the team was having internal discussions about trading for Miles Bridges.
Insider Jake Fischer (subscription) reported that the Pistons had targeted Bridges (Hornets) and Michael Porter Jr. of the Nets, or at least were "internally weighing the idea."
Michael Porter Jr. is a name that has been connected to the Pistons for weeks even though the Nets haven’t shown any indication that they want to trade him.
But it was Bridges who drew the attention of the fans, as he is someone we’ve not heard mentioned and not a player some fans care to have on their team. A quick perusal of social media showed strong opinions against the idea, but this was the consensus:
I would really hate to just quit this team at this point, but that’s how it goes

I made my feelings about Bridges clear back in 2022 when the Pistons were first attached to him in rumors under a different front office. Nothing has really changed, including his fit on the court.
There are plenty of reasons not to pursue Miles Bridges
It’s hard to believe the Pistons are seriously considering Bridges, who brings along plenty of baggage and negative PR off the court, but there are other things to consider.
He’s not a great fit, as he’s not a good 3-point shooter, a fact that doesn’t stop him from shooting over six per game even though he only hits 33 percent of them.
Bridges would provide some creation and shot making from the wing, as he scores 18 a game, but he doesn’t do it efficiently. Even though he’s clearly not 100 percent yet, Jaden Ivey could eventually give you most of that without the baggage and at a fraction of the cost.
Speaking of which, Bridges is owed $25 million this season and $22.8 million next season, so they would have to trade two players to match salaries unless they wanted to flip him straight up for Tobias Harris, which could have negative returns on chemistry.
Otherwise, it would take LeVert plus another $11 million in salary, which is hard to come by unless you want to include Ivey, which seems like a huge overpay for a guy like Bridges, who isn’t going to significantly move the needle for the Pistons. And why would Charlotte want to pay LeVert next year when they could just keep Bridges?
I am chalking this one up to bad intel, as it’s hard to see how it would work, and Bridges (for many reasons) does not seem like the type of player the Pistons would pursue.
It was surprising his name was mentioned, especially with Charlotte in a six-game win streak and trying to make a run at the play-in tournament, so I do not expect Miles Bridges to be coming to Detroit.
