Pistons vs. Celtics: Injury report, preposterous scheduling, bum refs and how to watch
Do you enjoy watching the Detroit Pistons get blown out? Then I have some good news for you!
After getting throttled by a shorthanded 76ers team so that they could rest their guys for the big game last night, the Pistons forgot to show up and got run out of the gym by the Bucks, who are probably still making 3-pointers from the hotel. Oh, and this sentence just fouled Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Excuse the grumpiness, but I’m on no sleep and this team is killing me.
Whatever amount of optimism was generated by the Pistons landmark run through the group stage of the NBA Cup was undone by the fact that they gave up winnable games to get there and didn’t make the knockout stage anyway. Raise the banner!
And their reward? The Pistons got to hop on a plane after last night’s debacle to fly to Boston to take on the defending champions.
JB Bickerstaff rightfully complained about this preposterous scheduling, as teams are being asked to treat these stupid NBA Cup games like they mean something (they don’t) and then play again the next night.
This will be the third back-to-back the Pistons have had after a Cup game and their 6th of the season so far. I hate to be conspiratorial here, but after watching last night’s egregious officiating imbalance in which the Pistons could not get a call but were whistled every time they breathed on Giannis coupled with this asinine schedule, and you’d almost think the league is trying to help the marquee teams. Almost.
The Pistons didn’t lose because of the refs or because they’ve played a dumb number of games lately, but it didn’t help, and you can’t tell me the NBA scheduling committee didn’t look at this stretch and say, “that should finish off the Pistons.”
Anyway, rant disengaged.
Like it or not, the Pistons have a game tonight, and if they defend the 3-point line like they did against Milwaukee, we may see some records broken.
Pistons vs. Celtics: Injury report
The Pistons only have rookie Bobi Klintman on the injury report with a calf injury, so should be at full strength against Boston, whatever that means.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Celtics start their bench, rest their starters and maybe even let a few fans have a crack at the Pistons tonight, but as for now they have Jrue Holiday and Jayson Tatum listed as questionable.

I hope the great George Blaha takes the night off, he doesn’t deserve this.
I’m one of the sickos, so you will find me talking myself into this team again tonight, but for now I’m just going to go pull some fingernails to prepare.
