The Detroit Pistons are in the playoffs for the first time since 2019 and the city is buzzing.

Their first-round series against the New York Knicks is billed to be one of the most competitive and entertaining in the Eastern Conference, which is why the teams got favorable TV slots in the playoff schedule.

The city of Detroit hasn’t seen playoff action in a long time, so the home arena should have plenty of energy, as the fans have bonded with this team and are excited to see how far they can take it.

The team did its part to keep the local fans involved by making it more difficult for out of towners to buy tickets, so if you have a Michigan address on your credit card, you've got an advantage if you want to attend a home game in Detroit.

It won’t be cheap, as the NBA is plagued by the same re-sale scam TicketMaster is running on most of the entertainment industry, but I’ll save that rant for a different day.

You can still get playoff tickets, and if you want to attend a game in Detroit, you’ll definitely get better value for your money than trying to see a game in New York.

Detroit Pistons playoff ticket prices: From lowest to highest

If you are a Pistons fan living in New York City, I am sorry to tell you that you’ll be paying considerably more for worse seats if you want to attend a game at Madison Square Garden.

As of the writing of this, standing room tickets at the Garden for Game 1 are going for $260 and you’ll pay upwards of $339 for the cheapest seat.

Tickets in the 200-level cost anywhere from $390-575 and the 100-level from $575 to well over a thousand.

If you want to sit in the first rows of seats it will cost you anywhere from $4,000-7,000 to do it. I was curious what courtside seats would cost but there aren’t any available, at least not for game 1.

The good news is that it is way less to go in Detroit. The 200-level, which is the highest at LCA, can be had for $139-160 for Game 3 depending on the part of the court.

You can get lower-level tickets for just over $300, but they range all the way up to $950 for seats at center court.

There are some tickets in the VIP rows going from $2,700 up to $6,500 to sit courtside.

The Pistons will be counting on a raucous home crowd that should be hungry for playoff basketball, and you can still get your hands on tickets. I live in Ireland and it’s taking all my restraint not to max out my credit cards to fly home and sit in those front-row seats.

Anyone have a private jet they could loan me?
