#11: Detroit Pistons (via CHI) select Dalton Knecht

There are fans of the Pistons who want Detroit to draft Knecht with the 5th pick, which seems a little high for a guy who doesn’t defend.

But he does one thing the Pistons need, which is shoot the ball and Cade Cunningham needs as many elite shooters around him as possible.

Given the uncertainty at five, this would give the Pistons the prospect with perhaps the highest floor in this draft, as we know his shooting will play.

This trade and pick allow the Pistons to address two needs and complete their wing rotation with guys who complement Ausar Thompson. Patrick Williams shoots over 40 percent from 3-point range and has shown he can defend.

Adding Knecht and keeping Fontecchio would ensure that there is always at least one very good 3-point shooter on the floor around Cade Cunningham.
