2024 NBA Mock Draft: Pistons drop, Spurs reach with the #1 pick

21. The New Orleans Pelicans select Devin Carter 

The Pels will eventually have to find a replacement for CJ McCollum and Carter could be that guy, He’s a crafty playmaker who can shoot and is unselfish, which he’d need to be on a team with so many offensive weapons. He’s a good defender who can play on or off the ball and would give the Pelicans another dawg on defense to go along with Herb Jones and Jose Alvarado. The timeline would work out well, as Carter could be a backup for two seasons while McCollum plays out his contract, giving him a great veteran mentor.
