Darius Garland/Collin Sexton-Jaden Ivey

Bickerstaff also had success running with two ball-dominant guards, another issue he could have in Detroit with Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham.

But both Garland and Sexton are more like Ivey, as they are tweener guards who look to score first. Garland went from a rookie under Bickerstaff to an All-Star in year three, improving his shooting efficiency along the way.

Sexton had his best years under Bickerstaff and also improved his efficiency.

This is what Bickerstaff needs to do with Ivey, who has the tools but has to refine his offensive game and improve on defense, both areas where JB has had success in the past.

Part of the reason Bickerstaff was hired in Detroit is because he has gotten positive results doing the exact thing they need him to do for the Pistons.

Bickerstaff took on a young and bad team in Cleveland and went from 22 wins his first season to 44, 51 and 48 wins in the seasons to follow. He has a very similar situation in Detroit, so let’s hope he can have that same kind of success, taking a bad team to a perpetual winner.
