10 Biggest comebacks in Detroit Pistons history
#2: Detroit Pistons vs. Phoenix Suns, January 8, 2021: 23 points
The Pistons fell behind 54-21 in the 2nd quarter but held the Suns to just 37 points in the second half before eventually running away with the game in overtime.
The Pistons, who were well on their way to being one of the worst teams in the league) got a monster game from Jerami Grant, who scored 31 points in a game in which the Pistons featured 13 players. What a weird rotation this was.
The Pistons started Blake Griffin, Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee, Delon Wright and Josh Jackson and brought Saddiq Bey, Sekou Doumbouya, Jahlil Okafor, Isaiah Stewart, Derrick Rose, Wayne Ellington, Svi Mykhailiuk and Frank Jackson off the bench. I think I have this team blocked from my mind.
#1: Detroit Pistons vs. Portland Trail Blazers, February 8, 2024: 23 points
The most recent, largest and most unlikely comeback on this list came this season, when the Pistons stormed back after being down 92-69 in the 3rd quarter against the Trail Blazers before finishing them off in overtime, the only game in the top-10 where the biggest lead came in the 2nd half.
This one looked VERY over, and I know a lot of you had already gone to bed, especially when you consider Portland had already beaten Detroit earlier in the season with a big comeback of their own, a game that set the tone for what will likely be the worst team in franchise history.
Detroit got a monster game from Jalen Duren, who scored 27 points, with 22 rebounds and three blocks. Jerami Grant scored 49 for Portland, but it didn't matter, as Detroit got 23 and 26 points, respectively from Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, who played 48 minutes in the win.
They also got a big boost from the bench, with 14 points from Stanley Umude, who should be getting some minutes in the homestretch after signing a two-year deal with the Pistons.
