The good news is that the Detroit Pistons shot 51 percent against the Atlanta Hawks including 41 percent from long range while getting a career night from Cade Cunningham.

Cunningham was outstanding, with 43 points, seven assists and five rebounds on 16-of-24 shooting, putting together the kind of night we've been waiting for this season.

The bad news is that the Pistons still lost.

Despite a career-high from Cunningham, the Pistons never held a lead and were down by double digits in the first quarter. Despite a career night from Cade Cunningham, the Pistons still never had a chance to win the game.

Despite getting 25 points from Bojan Bogdanovic (on 5-of-9 shooting from long range), your Detroit Pistons never had a chance to win the game. Not one chance.

And therein lies the biggest problem.

The Pistons have to get Cade Cunningham some help

Cade Cunningham and Bojan Bogdanovic accounted for 68 points last night, which means they scored 12 more points than the rest of the roster put together.

If you take those two out of the equation, the Pistons were 1-of-8 from 3-point range last night. The Hawks made 16 3-pointers to the Pistons' nine, which was the difference in the game once again.

Even when the Pistons get big nights from their two best scorers, there is not enough talent on the rest of the roster for it to matter.

Isaiah Livers, Joe Harris and Alec Burks, the three veterans who are supposed to be able to spread the floor, went a combined 2-of-15 for seven points and missed all of their 3-point shots.

The Pistons bench, which is the worst in the NBA, scored a combined 22 points.

And this is hardly a one-off, the bench has been horrible for most of the season. Alec Burks has shot 21 percent from 3-point range in his last 10 games, Isaiah Livers 27 percent and Joe Harris 31 percent. Those are your floor spacers.

There is a certain segment of the Pistons' fanbase that wants to blame Cade Cunningham for this mess, meanwhile, he's mostly been playing great of late while surrounded by players who aren't going to be in the NBA much longer.

The Pistons need big-time change. They have to get some competent players around Cade Cunningham or they are going to waste more nights like this as he starts to wonder what it must be like to play for an NBA team with talent on its roster.
