The Detroit Pistons should be rivals with the Indiana Pacers.

They have history. They have current players in Jaden Ivey and Bennedict Mathurin who do not like each other. They are in the same division and play each other four times a year.

But they are not rivals, at least not yet, as the Pistons are just 12-56 and when you are this bad, you don't have rivalries.

The Pacers are where the Pistons hoped to be this season, sitting in the 7th seed, just a half-game behind Philly for the final playoff spot with at least a good chance to host a play-in game.

Hopefully, someday this rivalry will be reborn, but for that to happen, the Detroit Pistons have to improve, which would start by avoiding the four-game season sweep by getting a win tonight, but who is going to be on the court for Detroit?

Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers injury updates: Is Cade Cunningham playing?

The good news for the Pistons is that Cade Cunningham is not listed on the injury report, which would be a good indication that sitting him last game was just a precautionary measure.

Cade's health is one of the many trends to monitor as the season winds down, as it would be nice for him to get close to 70 games played and finish the season healthy and on a high note for the first time in his career.

The bad news is that the Pistons still have plenty of walking wounded, as Isaiah Stewart, Quentin Grimes and Ausar Thompson have all been ruled out for tonight's game. Simone Fontecchio and Taj Gibson are both listed as questionable. Gibson has been the Pistons biggest cheerleader but managed to get hurt in his only action of the season.

Bennedict Mathurin is out for the rest of the season for the Pacers and Doug McDermott is listed as questionable.

So we won't get to see the Ivey/Mathurin matchup tonight which is a shame, and it's not ideal that rookie Ausar Thompson is missing this much time late in the season with an asthma-related illness, which is hopefully not something that will be a chronic problem.
