Trae Young

It's been Dejounte Murray's name in all of the NBA trade rumors thus far, but would the Hawks consider trading their two-time All-Star guard?

Young is one of the most gifted offensive players in the league, but he also has huge flaws when it comes to his defense and overall style of play.

The Hawks have never been better than mediocre with Young and he's their best chance to cash out if they want to start over.

I see this as unlikely, though there have been some rumblings around Young going to San Antonio and pairing with Victor Wembanyama, which makes sense, as the Spurs have a ton of assets they could send over, plus the young players to make the contracts work.

Could the Detroit Pistons get involved?

The Pistons were mentioned as a long-shot possibility for Young in a recent podcast "Shocking NBA Trade Ideas featured on Bleacher Report. This certainly would be a shock, as it's doubtful the Pistons would even have the necessary assets to acquire him, especially at the trade deadline. They'd have to give up Ivey, their 2024 1st, at least one more future first and a couple of swaps and I'm not even sure that would be enough. A deal like that couldn't be completed until draft day when the Pistons are eligible to trade their 2024 pick. I also don't see the fit with Cade Cunningham, though it would allow Cade to play more off the ball and give the Pistons a legit All-Star, albeit one with flaws.
