Malik Monk (unrestricted free agent)

Monk may be the most likely player on this list to end up playing for the Detroit Pistons, as he is an unrestricted free agent, would fill a need as a consistent secondary scorer and has the same agent as Cade Cunningham.

I’m torn on Monk, as he’s not quite good enough to be a starter in the NBA but he would be one on Detroit, which concerns me.

He’s best suited to be a 6th man on a good team, and Detroit has been down this road before with guys like Jerami Grant, who is great if he is your third-best player, but if he’s your best player, you are in trouble.

Monk is also a career 35 percent shooter from long range, pretty much the same as Jaden Ivey, so I don’t see him as a much better fit with Cunningham.

Ivey is another player who might be best suited as a lightning in a bottle scorer off the bench, so Monk seems redundant to me given that he’s not a great 3-point shooter. With Ivey and Sasser already on board, the Pistons have enough one-dimensional guards and need to beef up on wings and skilled bigs.
