4 Detroit Pistons who hurt their contract value in 2023-24
The Detroit Pistons are two games away from finishing a season that hasn't been good for anyone.
Their GM and coach are on the hot seat, and the perception of certain players has changed in a season that has only yielded 13 wins and already clinched the worst record in franchise history.
The stink of this season will affect some players in the wallet, as guys are going to be taking big pay cuts or potentially not maximizing their future contracts.
4 Detroit Pistons who hurt their contract value in 2023-24
Evan Fournier (team option, $19 million)
Fournier made $18.8 million this season to play 30 games between the Knicks and Pistons while shooting 26 percent from 3-point range, not bad work if you can get it.
Luckily, the $19 million remaining on his contract is a team option that the Pistons will certainly decline. Fournier definitely won't be getting nearly $20 million a year on his next contract, if he gets one at all. His numbers have plummetted since an effective 2021-22 season when he scored 14 a game and shot 38 percent from long range on high volume.
Does that guy still exist? We haven't seen him in Detroit, if anything, Fournier has hurt his future value by playing more. He looks far more like a minimum player than one earning $19 million a year.
