4 Detroit Pistons who hurt their contract value in 2023-24
Quentin Grimes (extension eligible)
Grimes is eligible for a contract extension this summer but has a team-friendly $4.2 million left on his deal next season.
Grimes only played six games in Detroit before being shut down for the season with a knee injury that has to be concerning. If he had played and played well for the Pistons, there might have been mutual interest in an extension this summer, but now Detroit might be content to just let him play out the last year of his deal to prove he's a fit who can stay healthy.
If Grimes does get an extension, it will have to be a lowball deal given his recent injury history, so he might be more inclined to bet on himself and hope he can bounce back next season.
The extension offer may not come, and if it does, it might not be one Grimes likes.
