This hasn't been a fun season for fans of the Detroit Pistons.
What started as a campaign filled with optimism and hope, quickly turned into us questioning just about everything around this team from the front office on down.
It eventually led to Detroit swapping out half their roster before the trade deadline and there is already some evidence of addition by subtraction when it comes to the guys they traded or cut.
But three players in particular are huge indictments of the team's approach this season and none of them are currently on the roster.
Ex-players show just how bad it's been for the Detroit Pistons
Isaiah Livers
Livers was playing over 20 minutes per game for the Detroit Pistons before being traded to the Washington Wizards in a multi-player deal.
He appeared in 23 games, six as a starter, even though there was mounting evidence that he was hurting the team on both ends.
He shot just 28 percent from long range and the 3-and-D glue guy we thought would emerge never did.
Since being traded to the Wizards, Livers hasn't stepped on the floor. Washington has just one more win than the Pistons, so it's not like he joined a contender, but even the second-worst team in the NBA hasn't given Livers a single minute.
This is a guy the front office was so high on, a guy who was STARTING for the Pistons, and he can't get run on the stinking Wizards.
Marvin Bagley III
This one goes the opposite way, as Bagley III had a nice start to the season before inexplicably being benched in favor of James Wiseman.
Over the first 15 games, Bagley III averaged 11.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists and the team was better when he was in the game. Then he started catching DNP's before eventually being unloaded on the Wizards, with the Pistons giving up a 2nd-round pick for them to take him off their hands.
Since joining Washington, MBIII has averaged six more minutes per game than when he was with the Pistons and is getting 13.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
I'm glad Bagley III is gone, but he's been getting more minutes and putting up bigger numbers since leaving Detroit.
Killian Hayes
Killian Hayes appeared in 42 games for the Detroit Pistons this season, starting 31 of them, often over Jaden Ivey.
You could make an argument that Hayes was one of the worst players in the NBA in that time and that he never would have sniffed those kinds of minutes on any other team.
Since being cut before the trade deadline, Hayes hasn't been able to find a job, so literally no team wants a guy they can practically have for free. Again, he was STARTING for the Pistons, which says everything you need to know about this season.
Players who can start in Detroit can't find jobs elsewhere, which is an indictment of Troy Weaver's terrible roster construction as well as Monty Williams' misuse of it.
