#8: San Antonio Spurs select Nikola Topic 

This is a tough one, as Topic may not play next season. But he’s only 18, one of the youngest players in the draft, and the Spurs have the time to be patient. 

Getting playmakers around Wembanyama should be the priority and Topic offers a different look than Sheppard as a big point guard who can get into the lane. 

Sheppard can play on or off the ball so the two make sense as a backcourt when Topic gets healthy and Sheppard can hold down the point before then. 

I wouldn’t be shocked if the Spurs traded this pick or took a big wing here like Tidjane Salaun.
