Free-agent upside: Isaac Okoro

Teams can’t have enough 3-and-D role players in the modern NBA and Okoro fits the bill, especially after making a nice leap as a 3-point shooter last season.

Okoro is a versatile defender who can guard several positions and he can act as a connector on offense with his passing and in dribble handoff sets.

The most intriguing part about Okoro is that he has improved as a 3-point shooter every year he’s been in the league, peaking at 39 percent last season on over three attempts per game.

That should continue under a shooting coach like Fred Vinson, so the Pistons may be able to nap themselves a valuable wing on a discount.

The problem with Okoro is that the Cavaliers can match any offer, as he is a restricted free agent. The Pistons are also fairly set at the wing and don’t really need a guy like Okoro.

But he’s a talent and he’s available so fit shouldn’t matter, as he may not be a fit now, but that could change in the future.

The Detroit Pistons are likely to make another move or two before the season starts and adding a player like Okoro would be a nice luxury for a young team looking for impact talent.
