Trading Isaiah Stewart to the New York Knicks

JEIII named Stewart as the most likely trade target for the Knicks and that makes sense, as Duren is not yet the defender that they need.

Stewart’s shooting also opens up some interesting possibilities for the Knicks offensively and he’s under a fairly team-friendly contract that only has three seasons plus a team option, which the Knicks can manage.

Here is the possible trade Edwards came up with:

Stew to knicks

I’m glad to see Edwards hasn’t given up his allegiance to the Pistons, as this deal does seem a tad lopsided in their favor, so much so that I am not sure the Knicks would even do it.

The Knicks would be giving up on the last two years of the oft-injured Robinson, but let’s keep in mind that Stewart has missed a ton of games as well. He’s only played 96 games in the last two seasons combined, so it’s time to acknowledge that Stewart is injury prone, which rarely gets mentioned.

Robinson’s contract also goes down to $12 million in the final season, so New York be taking on extra years and annual salary.

They are also throwing in Miles McBride and the 2025 pick they owe the Pistons, which seems like an awful lot to give up for Beef Stew.

But given Mitchell’s injury history, the fact that the pick may never convey and McBride potentially being buried on the depth chart, from New York’s perspective they are actually giving up very little of value to them.

A center you don’t want, a pick you’ll never get and a backup point guard is not much to give up for a 23-year-old center who has improved every season.

But what about the Pistons? Is this enough to give up on Beef Stew?
