The Detroit Pistons find themselves favored for just the sixth time this season at home when they take on the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.

Charlotte is extremely banged up entering this game, missing LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, Cody Martin, Seth Curry and likely Tre Mann (doubtful).

The Pistons are coming off a blowout loss to Dallas on Saturday night, but can the team bounce back and win at home? Detroit has won just 10 games all season, but the team is 2-8 in its last 10 games.

Meanwhile, the Hornets are coming off a win against the Brooklyn Nets where Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller both scored over 20 points.

Hornets vs. Pistons key players to watch

Charlotte Hornets

Brandon Miller: As a rookie, Miller is averaging 16.9 points per game and shooting an impressive 44.1 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from 3 despite a lack of help on the roster as a whole. The Hornets wing is coming off a 23-point game against Brooklyn and scored 23 points in a seven-point loss to Detroit the last time these teams met.

Detroit Pistons

Cade Cunningham: Over his last two games, Cunningham scored 32 and 33 points, pushing him over the 20-point threshold in eight of his last nine games. Cunningham’s 30-point games also came with him dishing out 10 or more assists in each game. He’s becoming one of the best guards in the NBA, and he’ll be a tough cover for Charlotte tonight.

Hornets vs. Pistons prediction and pick

This is a great spot to bet on the Pistons to pick up their 11th win of the 2023-24 season.

Detroit is just 1-4 against the spread (and straight up) this season as a home favorite, but the Hornets have been awful as road underdogs, going 12-20 against the spread on the season. Charlotte is also just 7-25 straight up on the road this season.

I don’t love the thought of laying points with Detroit, but the team did win the last meeting between these teams by seven points and Cunningham was injured and did not suit up.

Given how well the former No. 1 overall pick is playing as of late, I think the Pistons have a talent advantage with Ball, Mann, Curry, Williams and Martin all likely out.

I’m going to play this even safer and just lay the juice on the Detroit moneyline, but I think the Pistons pay off being favored with a win.

Pick: Pistons ML (-165)
