5. Team Construction Part 3: Who to draft?

This isn't a star studded draft, but there are a lot of good players to draft for fit, no matter what positon the Pistons draft in. Teams throw the word "upside" out a lot when it comes to the draft, but this year teams are looking at what skill will instantly translate to the NBA. This draft has three-point shooters, wings, defenders, and rim protectors, all of which happen to be immediate needs for the Pistons.

Langdon will have the most freedom to draft, as he's a great eye for talent. In his years with New Orleans, he drafted numerous great wings like Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III, and his evaluation will be pivotal if he stays at five or decides to move. There will be talent available at every route, with Matas Buzelis as a plus defender, Zaccharie Risacher being a pure 3-and-D wing, or even Dalton Knecht's sharpshooting abilities.

Trajan Langdon is going to have the space and ability to build the team he needs, and that's going to take time. This Pistons franchise has been a mess for the better part of 15 years, and it's not going to change overnight. Langdon, though a new face for fans, inherets the struggle from the last three regimes, and he will need time to turn it around. If he can freely make moves, the playoffs may be in the picture sooner than later. Just be patient.
